Checkerboard Pattern & Why We Can't Get Enough

The checkerboard pattern - it's a yes for us! This trend has our hearts and we are here for bringing back the old-school-style of it in our projects. The possibilities are endless and there are ways to keep it feeling fresh and modern as well. There are so many different options of bringing this pattern into a space and there is no wrong place for it - or at least in our opinion. Keep reading to see what we would pick and our favourite inspiration. We share our favourite check print decor pieces at the very end!

We love the warmer tones of this checkerboard floor. The brown tones create a more calming and softer contrast as opposed to the typical white and black.

How about creating a pattern with your existing floors? If you're looking for a refresh, but don't necessarily have the money or time for a major renovation - why not grab some painter's tape and create your own pattern. Check out our blog post where we shared our favourite paint colours for some inspiration.

We absolutely love this fresh take on the classic black and white checkerboard floor with the mix of calacatta marble and limestone tiles.

Checkboards are not only for floors. We can't get over this cute backsplash! It is such a fun way to add some character back into your space - playful, yet still sophisticated.

As you know, we love mixing old and new at LVZ Design. The old world charm of this space is truly stunning. We love how Blanc Marine Interiors incorporated a soft, but warm and moody palette with the checkerboard floor as the start of this bathroom design.

Zellige tiles are a favourite in the LVZ Design studio. We love the smaller rectangle tile to create this parquet checkerboard pattern. The natural texture of this handcrafted tile is timeless and can work in traditional or a modern spaces to give it a hit of character.
